Humanities, the interdisciplinary freshman-level course, is the embodiment of the agency we inherit through attending an institution as wealthy and as privileged as Davidson. It is where we learn how to empathize with those we have never met before, even with those who have nothing in common with us. We are given the opportunity to interact with texts, professors, and classmates who hold opposing viewpoints and begin a discussion that gives us a better grasp on the world around us.
Personally, it has led to quite a few moments of self-realization and revolution, which I reflect on in my new section.
